Rogue-lite? More Like Rock-lite! All-New Trailer Drop for Hard Rock-themed Roguelite “Metavoidal”
SHANGHAI – July 13, 2023 - Today, Astrolabe Games is delighted to announce “Metavoidal”, a hard rock-themed roguelite created by the South African studio, Yellow Lab Games.
Rock’n Roll? How about “Rock’n Rogue?” Rogue-lite? More like “Rock-Lite”! Go ahead and smash some evil monsters while rocking out to some dope bangers – Just like a fierce rock concert, this will be such an epic experience, so explosive and intense you won’t soon forget. Metavoidal will launch into Early Access on Steam first in 2023, with plans for a global multi-platform release later on.
Intro
The story began in a rather ignominious way: You, a drummer, had just failed your audition with a metal band. After coming to your senses, you realize that everything around you is being controlled and corrupted by this band. What's worse, they have countless rabid fans… You must defeat all the band members, stay one step ahead of the rabid fans, and end this disgusting curse for good. If at first you don’t succeed, the only thing to do is to try again. You are a drummer, it’s okay to put on airs! Teach these brainless lunatics a lesson with your drumsticks…then run!
Gameplay: Collect records, draw power, and defeat evil!
Pour some gasoline, light a fire, power up, and add some dark atmosphere while you’re at it! Drummers can have their fills!
Since you're a drummer, it's all about the music. To clear a level, you must locate the new record inside it. Each record is both a treasure and a key. Place it on the record player at the end of the level and you'll be able to absorb the musical powers it contains. Choose from the dark trinity!
These powers will imbue your drumsticks with magic powers. Oil or fire? Lightening or holy light? Once you've made your choice, you'll immediately face a metal carnage of enemies; you must drumstick your way through their blockade to escape to the next area. The most exciting part of each run is that magic forces from different records work together in most unexpected ways!
Gameplay experience: unique scenes, adrenaline music, combine work with play!
Fighting without music sucks. Even when you’re running away, do it with the most hardcore rock!
Armed with your playlist, you will escape from corrupted catacombs, deserted graveyards and sinister churches. During each exhausting church tour, you'll discover multiple great tracks; adding them to your battle playlist will greatly enhance your abilities and skills as a drummer. Of course, before you succeed in lifting the curse, you can always return to the backstage to enjoy these tracks. The first lesson of becoming a good drummer: learn how to relax.
Facing off: confront evil, hardcore solo and make your escape!
Ain’t no solo like a drummer’s solo. Pull out your drumsticks and beat up the room, show these amateurs what you’re made of.
Nobody likes rejection in the audition, and the hacks in this band like it even less. At the end of each level, the metal band that disparaged your skills will send one of its members to fight you in a blistering solo battle. You must defeat every one of them to earn your freedom. Each member has unique and over-the-top abilities with their own fighting style. To fight a physical duel using drumsticks with the vocalist, the keyboard, the guitarist and especially the bassist—it's every drummer's dream!
Harder and Higher: pick up picks, turn them in for points and get stronger!
It seems that everybody carries guitar picks with them. Just don’t ask why.
Bing Bong is a weirdo who has been corrupted by the metal music, but he's a good weirdo. His booth is open for you to trade in the guitar picks for something to power yourself up. As a professional drummer, you can never have too many drumsticks. Certain upgrades will let you carry a lot of sticks, so now you can smash a few more into your enemy's face! Of course, drummers have to work out their legs, otherwise, those Double Bass can be a real killer. Plus, Bing Bong has upgrades that will make you run faster and earn more! We know what you need!
